Lovely painting...is she suppose to be "Little Eva"? I am curious why the man's dress is not the usual slave attire, if he is suppose to be "Uncle Tom", and the girl is sitting on an animal pelt. I love the big mastiff resting by the girl's side, and the little native child peeking from the side...Just beautaiful!

Its a book I've never read. But I remember reading it had a big impact over here. Can't find any background to this picture unfortunately.
