Richard Ansdell

[Fallow Deer] 1855

1815 - 1885.
Liverpool sporting and animal painter. He painted many Scottish subjects in a manner similar to the popular Landseer. Many of his pictures were engraved and sold widely. Considered an artist of some merit today, especially for his group portraits like The Caledonian Coursing Club.
