John Everett Millais - James Wyatt and his Granddaughter Mary

Wyatt was a dealer, collector and print publisher (and Mayor of Oxford) who had met Millais by 1846 who commissioned several portrait paintings from the artist. Notice some of the details like the portrait miniature of the sitter's father - Frederick Wyatt and in the top right corner a portrait of his daughter-in-law Eliza Wyatt by Sir William Boxall. Millais later painted her as well.

Eliza Wyatt is shown here with her daughter Sarah. Eliza was the daughter-in-law of James Wyatt, a collector, dealer and print publisher who supported the Pre-Raphaelites.The prints on the wall show Renaissance masterpieces: Raphael’s Madonna della Sedia, Leonardo’s The Last Supper and Raphael’s Alba Madonna
