Helen Allingham - Wiliam, sketches and the Isle of Wight

The Allingham's were friends with the Tennyson's and visited them at their home on the IOW (Freshwater) where she also painted the local cottages. She first went in 1890.

The sketch of William was made after his marriage to Helen in 1874 and was later turned into a watercolour (now in the Dublin Portrait Gallery).
