John William Waterhouse

[Head of a Girl] late 1890's ?
red chalk
no name can be attached to the model but she seems to have been used in a number of his mythological works of this period - though this drawing seems to have been done as a stand-alone work in its own right
[Study for "A Tale from the Decameron"] c. 1916
oil on canvas
The painting itself was produced in 1916 and this is a preparatory painting. It shows the seven maidens listening to Boccaccio's story in a villa outside Florence. The finished painting is in the Lady Lever Gallery in Liverpool.
