John Henry Dearle after Burne-Jones

Dearle was a craftsman who worked for Morris & Co. and worked on stained glass, tapestries etc. He was a close friend of both Burne-Jones and Morris. The original tapestry on which this painting is based as destroyed by fire at an exhibition in Brussels in 1910, but re-woven in 1922-6 and is now in the Detroit Institute of Arts.
