i always wander about those models...were they just bored and thinking " when this will be finished, i'm hungry"...or was it something special, a moment to think about their life - and that is to be seen inside the finished art.
Interesting subject as it has only recently been discovered that some of the Pre-Raph painters used hypnotism (called Mesmerism then) to keep their models in line and in pose. This one just looks rather bored to me!
