The boy at the head of the table seems to have his priorities right. The child at the front on the right has a wonderfully realistic air of concentration. But whatever is wrong with the mum? Her detachment from the meal table suggests a lurking tragedy - along with the empty chair . . . which, rather mundanely and irrelevantly sends me off into memories of when every home had one just like it.
Funnily enough just been out with a chap whouse Aunt had 9 children and he was just talking about what chaos meal times were. All good points you made.
