since about Victorian times (roughly 1837 on)
I heard The London Oratory Choir ages ago so I know they serve in the church's major liturgical celebrations. But that begs the question(s). Why did the Catholic Church need one or two special Oratory Churches in the UK? If those one or two were hugely successful, why didn't they build one in every city? Does the inside architecture reflect its special musical responsibilities?
The two Oratories in England were founded before the new Catholic Cathedrals were built.
