Frederick John Widgery

1861 - 1942.
Lived in Exeter and painted coastal scenes and landscapes. The son of William Widgery (1822 - 1893) also a painter and studied at the Exeter School of Art and under Verlat in Antwerp and under Herkomer at the Bushey School of Art. Became Chairman of the Exeter Public Art Gallery and a Magistrate of the City. Painted especially in and around Dartmoor.
