Victorian Cockney London photographs


Paul Martin was born in Alsace-Lorraine, but his family fled to England when he was a child, in the wake of the Franco-Prussian war and the Paris Commune.
He disguised his camera as a large brown paper parcel and the shots he took are unposed and natural.

Me too. I think they help to put the paintings in some sort of context and I am a history nut anyway!
