since about Victorian times (roughly 1837 on)
I wrote a long post about the pavilion at Bexhill On Sea (1930s) and I will be writing on St Kilda Baths in Melbourne (late 19th century) very soon. Clean, healthy fun places, both of them. But the thing about Plymouth Pier is that it looked exotic, as well as fun :)
Thanks. I like piers and there is a new one being rebuilt (after a bad fire) in nearby - to me - Weston Super Mare.
