Richard Hilder was a landscape painter who was born in London.He exhibited at the Royal Academy, British Institution and Suffolk Street between 1836 - 1851.
Four drawings by him are in the British Museum. He was probably the brother of P John Hillder who was also a landscape painter and lived at the same address.
His subjects at the Royal Academy were mainly views in Kent and Sussex.

We have a Hilder reproduction but we can't find much information about the artist or his work. On the back of the canvas it says: 15 x 22 "Scenes by Hilder" and then the word "Maple" underneath that. It is a scene of rolling hills and some deer grazing at the bottom. Perhaps you or somebody who reads this blog can help identify this painting for us. I cannot find this image in the Google database. Thank you. --Cheri
It's a wonderful painting! I just love this kind of blogs, specially if we are talking about artist and its achievements and features. It's all about passion and Richard Hilder had a clever. Absolutely.
