Two Day Conference 18 - 19 March 2011, Birmingham and Midland Institute

The Drawing and the Victorian Artist Conference has been organised to accompany ‘The Poetry of Drawing: Pre-Raphaelite Designs, Studies and Watercolours’ (Gas Hall, 29 January - 15 May 2011), this conference examines the wider contexts of drawing in the nineteenth century.

The papers will explore a range of subjects including the training of artists, the making and collecting of works on paper, and changing approaches to drawing at the beginning of the twentieth century.
