Well done, Phillip! Outstanding article. It also brought to my mind Victor Hugo, whom some say Dickens copied. Can't blame him with all those mouths to feed. Bleak times for so many. In his autobiography, Angela's Ashes, Frank McCourt's story of his family's life in the 1930's in Ireland reveals that conditions had not improved in all those decades for thousands of people. Such a pity, and so true: the poor are always with us.

Thank you, as they are today but hopefully not with such extremes, at least here.
