Only just discovered this and an interesting play on light.

I thought I'd take a look here for a change - and very glad I did. I very much like this painting. Doesn't look in the least bit 'Victorian' and the atmosphere is strangely peaceful - given that that is a cold and lonely road which seems to be going into nowhere.

I agree. This is not his usual scene but he just loved light and reminds me of Turner in some ways, though perhaps not so bold. Glad you like this blog. Its another labour of love for me.
