The Getty already has enough Turners... the other thousands of galleries in the world should be able to bid for a Turner for their own populations to see. But then I suppose at $45 million, The Getty simply burned off any potential opposition.

I'm sure you're right, but I'm impressed with how much they manage to display and lend and their really good web site. Helps being so rich of course. But so many British Museums have too many works hidden away to my mind.
