I am assuming that is not just a place that a late Victorian family lived in. Rather the house itself was built during the last decades of the 19th century. It looks like a neo-gothic castle. And the family members look very formally dressed :)

I'm not quite sure of the context Helen, but I believe it was built for them. No servants invited I notice, but what a big family.

You will find them touring old historic towns in new england or northeast usa..I am always on search for pretty houses for my paintings..ever been to NJ? there is a town called Spring Lake, there are so many of those houses there. Matter of fact, that may be a nice blog. I will have to take a drive down there soon.
