A sensitive work.

It reminds me of a whole genre of Victorian paintings where a well bred young woman has to earn a living (for one reason or another) and has to become a tutor or housekeeper. She looks well groomed and interested in the book, but a bit lonely.

Not common to feature the house keeper but you're right it must have been a lonely position twixt top nor bottom.
