Frederic Lord Leighton
[Pavonia] 1859
oil on canvas
the model was "La Nanna", Nanna Risi, later the mistress of the German painter Anselm Fuerbach. This painting seems to have a number of names. Pavonia was a reference to the Peacock fan. Exhibited (and well received) at the RA.
