James Jacques Joseph Tissot - Chrysanthemums. ca1875

Tissot may be terribly old fashioned, but he certainly knew how to paint. Except for his religious period, after he returned to France, his works were fashionable, colourful, painterly and optimistic. "Chrysanthemums" is a great example.

I love the colours and the clever use of yellow in the figure. Tissot is an acquired taste now but some of them are just superb.
